Description

Kyoto Kumihimo is a traditional method of braiding threads and materials together, most famously seen in binding samurai armor together as well as decorative material for Buddhist scrolls and the like, and this sturdy shoulder strap is a fantastic example of the craftsmanship in a modern setting. The particular braid is called "Karauchi" - characteristically twice as detailed as the more common "Edo-himo" braid. This shoulder strap was designed for smartphones but works well with things like small wallets, coin purses, or point-and-shoot cameras. The cord runs approximately 67cm/26.4" long and is roughly 6mm or 1/4" thick.
